2014 Year In Progress

2014 Board Retreat

This was a good day for The Georgia Lakes Society. The event was well-attended by enthusiastic participants who brought energy and ideas to the meeting.  Click here to view our retreat notes.

Lake University

Georgia Lakes Society continues to raise the bar on its own Lake University excellence, holding its Spring 2014 workshop at Flinchum’s Phoenix in Athens, Georgia (in partnership with UGA’s Warnell School of Forestry). This particular session featured “hands on” learning experiences for lake management professionals seeking CE credits.

AAL Manual

The final formatting of the manual is still in progress in order to get the manual ready for publication. It is anticipated that everything will be ready in time to premier the program at the Adopt-A-Stream 2015 conference, Confluence.

Conference Attendees

Georgia Lakes Society sent representatives Bev Nichols and Marty Williams to the 2014 SE NALMS in Asheville, NC. GLS also purchased a sponsorship for this event. Susan Wilde presented at this SE NALMS gathering, and GLS met Bobby Dunn, who has just joined the GLS Board of Directors as our new Secretary. Additionally, GLS facilitated Mary Mayhew’s attendance to the Spring 2014 Adopt-A-Stream Confluence.

LakeLine

LakeLine expresses continued interest in content from our Lake University Workshops. GLS has also submitted information for the Lake Association issue to be published later this year.
